  • N-O-T PRICELESS!!

Have you ever wondered how the glamour girls of Hollywood always manage to look “picture” perfect, no matter what? Their hair always seems to stay in place. Their faces never seem to look oily. Their clothes always skim across their figures as of they were sewn onto them. It is maddening! Is it not?

Here is a little secret: They do not just roll out of bed looking fabulously perfect! These stars have what is referred to in the industry as “Handlers”. A Handler is someone just out of the picture frame who is constantly fluffing, pressing, powdering and combing.

As much fun as it may sound, I am here to tell you that as Miss/Mrs./Ms. “I’m a Winner” you will probably not have the luxury to be followed by a “Handler”. But putting your best image forward in our business is a must for your continued success. Therefore, in order to put your best foot, or shall I say best face, forward you will need to learn how to be your own “Handler”.

This might sound like an overwhelming task, but be assured, with a little practice and planning you, too, will be able to look “picture” perfect, as if you had your very own “Handler”, EVERY time the camera flashes.

So, you ask, “How does one go about becoming your own Handler?” The following four suggestions will help get you started. Think of them as the ‘Flash Four’:

  • Flash #1: Carry a portable “Beauty Survival Kit”: This is a makeup bag stocked with blotting paper (a must), translucent blotting powder, pressed powder, a compact powder and/or blush brush, blush, eyeliner, lip liner, lipstick, lip gloss, travel-sized hair spray, a small brush or comb, eyelash glue and small tweezers. Sometimes I’ll even throw in an eye shadow compact for quick touch-ups. All of this should fit very nicely into your purse or crown case.
  • Flash #2: Plan your timing for your Mirror Check:This is important! Each of us becomes a fading flower at different times. Therefore, you need to know your ‘wear’ time. When do you begin to get oily? When does your lipstick wear off? When does your hair show signs of exhaustion? Your job as a person in the lime light is to know what time, or how often you need to do your Mirror Check, and when it is time, head to the powder room mirror!

Every time you are in the powder room, take the extra few minutes to touch up your makeup: Blot and powder your nose. Re-apply your lipstick and gloss. Fix that false eyelash that everyone has been mistaking as a spider hanging off your eyelid for the last thirty minutes!

If you are one of those lucky people who typically only has to use the powder room once or twice a day, make it a point to go anyway – once every hour or two.
  • Flash #3: Practice: Each of us has a body image that is flattering. Therefore, find out what body images are most flattering on you and whenever the camera goes off, use them! The best way to find your ‘image’ is in front of the mirror. Watch yourself as you try different poses, smiles and facial expressions. Always before an appearance, try your clothes on and find out which outfits/colors are the most flattering for your figure and complexion and how they come across in photos. A very important note: Put your crown and banner on and know where your hair must be positioned so your title will always be seen in a photograph. What makes you unique is your title. If the camera cannot see it, you missed your opportunity for promotion.
  • Flash #4: Do a “Glance Down”: This one is simple and some of you may have already heard me use this term. If you have done your homework and been practicing in the mirror at home, all you have to do is glance down at yourself to make sure your hair and clothing is properly positioned. Remember the camera cannot capture what you do not give it. Therefore, make sure that you before the flash goes off, you give yourself the once over and you are positioned as you want to be seen, because as you look back up at the camera and show them your picture perfect smile, you will find that Looking like a million bucks in that all-important press photo…..

Mental Vision Message of the Month:

Opportunity Knocks? That's a lie!

If you were raised in America, you have most likely heard the saying "Opportunity Knocks". So, like most flag waiving patriots, we think we are pursuing the American dream if we stand in front of 'that' door, ear pressed against the wood, enthusiasm in our heart, preparation in our past, and wait (... and wait.... and wait...) until that darn thing called opportunity pounds on the darn door to let us know our time has arrived!

For years I made the destiny stopping mistake of waiting for opportunity to knock. For years, I waited patiently. I waited properly. I waited perfectly for my 'turn', only to watch others, with less experience, less ambition, and less talent sail ahead with their dream, as I stood in front of that darn door waiting for the invitation.

As a Motivational Destiny Life Coach, I still see this dream technique implemented. This many years later, I find that the end result is still the same: A destiny catcher who feels discouraged because their dream remains at bay. Therefore, one of the first things I teach my clients is the real rule about the door of opportunity: Opportunity does not have hands to knock. You however do. In other words, the rule to experiencing your dreams is not "Opportunity knocks". Instead the Destiny Rule is, "YOU need to knock and opportunity will open the door."

From a spiritual standpoint the New Testament teaches, "Knock and the door shall be opened." From a scientific stand point, it is called the Law of Motion (you all remember Isaac Newton's Law of Physics, right?). The Law of Motion basically states that objects keep doing what they are doing and the only way to create change is to introduce an unbalanced force.

If therefore, you are waiting for opportunity to knock, your dreams are probably at a standstill because there is a balance in force. Think about it. On one side of the door, opportunity is at a stand still because it is impossible for opportunity to knock. Opportunity is a thing, not an action. On the other side of the door, you are not knocking, but instead waiting, therefore creating the same force - nothing! The forces are of equal magnitude, therefore creating a balance force of no movement, which therefore creates no activity in the progress of your dream.

In order to create movement in your destiny, you therefore must create an unbalance of force. How? YOU must knock (ie, do something) which will create activity and that activity will present opportunity.

To create your destiny, it is time to replace the old belief, "Opportunity knocks" with a new belief, "Knock and the door will open." When you do, you will become an unbalance force that will, by the laws of nature, put you on your path to your chosen destiny.

EMPOWERING EXERCISE OF THE MONTH:

This month, here are some steps to create movement in your dreams.

  • Take an inventory of your dream list and identify any of your dreams that have been in a stall for more than 30 days.
  • Identify who needs to know about your dream and who can make it happen.
  • Get in the habit of every day on your "To Do" list, commit to 3 action items that will create movement for your dream.
  • Log on our WEBSITE FORUM and share with us what you will try.
